Zara wouldn’t have believed the same guy would have been her brother only if…. That birthmark above his eye wasn’t there. 

But it was. 

He was Zain, she was sure. And to convince him to go back to their country was the task. 

So many questions, and no answers she had known. But this was not the time. The task was to bring him back, to hug him and find solace in her elder brother's arms, the safest place for a sister. She didn’t knew opting to go for a party for a convocation of her best friend’s sister would bring him this close to her own brother. And it was an easy task she knew. She was a singer, as far as people knew. And they would urge her to sing ofcourse. And that will be her golden chance. 

Zain felt somebody spying him. He turned and froze at the pair of brown eyes, which were calm as usual. No happiness, no fear, no emotion. Blank, as usual. It was zara, he knew and looked into her eyes.

People say eyes speak but never ever zain had the chance to read zara, his only sister younger to him by 5 years. He blinked only when she did and that was when a mike was put on her hand. She looked at him and he didn’t react. 

And she smiled

Because he had started a war, and she will win it. So, she began with the army of her words.

He gripped the glass looking at his shoes, not letting the words affect him. But his heart had already started to melt, only if he knew.

Zara danced around noor, for whose purpose this big party was thrown. Noor giggled, passing a flying kiss to zara who smiled before continuing.

यहाँ-वहाँ जाने कहाँ

He closed his eyes and remembered how when he was 10 and she was 5, they played together. She had made him play kitchen-kitchen, made invisible sandwiches and he had eaten him only for her to smile. How he had skipped colleges to play with her, how he took every opportunity to drop her off to her friend’s place to listen to her blabber. Growing up, he had realised how Zara was the brightest star in his not so bright life. 

धुआँ-धुआँ था वो समा

यहाँ-वहाँ जाने कहाँ

Zara remembers it too. But those happy moments got out shadowed with remorse, anger and betrayal she had faced when her brother, her support system, her lifeline had left home at the age of 25 for pursue a life he dreamt off. She remembers her 20 year old self crying, sobbing, begging to take her with him, but how blatantly he had ignored her like she didn’t mean to thing to him.

Was it so easily to replace a sister you had been living with since 20 years?
Was she that bad sister?

She stressed on last lines trying to make him believe, no matter if he agrees or not, no matter if he wants to understand or not it’s a fact they’re blood siblings, siblings by heart and soul. They hold memories, both happy and bad and zara will not back away this time. This is her believe in their bond, which is not so weak. 

तू भी रही मेरे लिए

मैं भी रहा तेरे लिए

Her eyes opened wide when he sang. 

Ofcourse he sang, Zara had taken after him only.

पहले भी मैं तुझे बाहों में लेके

घुमा किया और झूमा किया

He sings referring to the times when she wanted to dance ball dance, and he had been her prince charming, her flynn rider and all ridiculous things only for her to smile and giggle. They had done the ball dance 23947th times and they could never run out of it. They didn’t needed soulmates, together they were enough. The perfect platonic relationship he never knew he needed until he turned 5 and an angel of a sister was his birthday gift.

She sang, eyes radiating a happy moment. It was! The happiest moment for her right now.

She sang, pleading him to not leave her once again. She had enough for 4 years, and now life wouldn’t be the same.

He promised.

They sang together. And noor smiled. Mission successful she texted to their certain well wisher and clapped seeing the siblings united after a long break, which was much needed for the things which the future hold.

In the embrace they stood still, wanting to absorb all the years of separation. 

“You came.” Zara spoke, her voice betraying her eyes. 

“I promised.” Zain replied

The 5 year old had made the 10 year old promise that whenever she will need him he must come, because that’s what brothers do, don’t they?

“Y-uu v-ill c-oo-me.” little Zara had asked

“Always.” Zain had promised

The promises, the love, everything remained the same despite the distance. And now, the distance has also vanished.
